Gifts of love come in many shapes sizes and in many forms.  Adoption is said to be a gift of life, and adopted children are told that they are gifts of love. This piece is a self-portrait and it represents my own budding knowledge gifted to me in moving to another geographical location. It was created after moving to the Netherlands and represents another rebirth, and a time in my journey to learn how to walk, talk, perceive, socialize, love and feel again in order to be able to make sense of the world around me. New life and opportunity is a gift, and for that I am forever grateful. The process of this piece allowed me to feel understanding of myself in the world and express gratitude.
