During the adoption of my nephew, I worked as a nanny for my nephew and niece who was previously adopted from China.  During the time, I created this piece with copper, gold leaf, and recycled beads.  Each moment in the process of making this was a moment to think about what it means to adopt, to be an adoptee, and the journey of transition into a new perception that this amazing little human will soon encompass in the days ahead.
